Strong Body & Mind
Start Feeling Stronger and Happier
Unlike other forms of low impact exercise, Tai Chi encourages you to focus on each move and forget your everyday concerns. Tai Chi has been found to reduce anxiety & stress, relieve depression and contributes to your overall feelings of well being.
|
Tai Chi engages your whole body. The movements are simple, but they require you to engage a wide range of muscles starting with your core (hips, abdomen) and legs for the Tai Chi stance, and then your arms, upper torso, shoulders and neck in easy flowing movements. Tai Chi gets your circulatory system flowing, stimulates your lymph system (important to immune health), and even goes deeper to activate your body’s energy system, which many argue is the true foundation of all health and well-being. Tai Chi is both physical and mental. While the movements in Tai Chi are slow and simple, the focus is on doing them ‘well.’ This takes concentration and attention. It fully engages your mind throughout every movement. This is not like mindless exercise on a treadmill. As you focus your mind on your posture, your breathing, the shape of your movements, and on the flowing dance-like quality of the moves, you strengthen mental focus, release mental tension, and create a meditative mental state that encourages feelings of inner peace and well being.
Sharpen your mind, As your body ages, so does your mind. Tai Chi has been called ‘meditation in movement’ because it involves your mind as much as your body – keeping both active and youthful.

Fast or Slow Each DVD offers two different demonstration sections. The first is a much slower section full of expert explanation from your experienced instructor, John Hine. You will quickly feel comfortable with these moves and no longer need to watch the slower instruction. At that point, you can simply watch the guided ‘Follow Along’ section. The follow along is set to relaxing music, and features John Hine performing the moves for you to follow along at regular speed. Seated, Standing If you have mobility issues, injuries, balance issues, or are recovering, feel free to start with the seated version. Once you are familiar with the moves, you can choose either a seated or standing version of the ‘follow along’ section for daily practice.
